Emily stood leaning against the lounge room wall. The grown-ups were all sitting on chairs talking, and twins were sitting on the floor by their parents’ feet, munching on biscuits.
Emily and the three other girls had been introduced. The shy  one was called Jasmine, the fidgety one was Belle, and the sister of the twins was Amy.
Jasmine had her hands clasped together and was looking at the floor. Belle couldn’t stand still; one second she had her arms folded, the next she had them behind her back. Amy cleared her throat awkwardly. “So……do you guys want to do something?”
Emily grinned widely and stepped away from the wall. “Thought you’d never ask! Let’s get away from the grown-ups before we catch their boring-ness.”
Belle giggled and Jasmine smiled shyly.
“C’mon! I’ll show you the shed!” shouted Emily over her shoulder.
Amy, Jasmine and Belle looked at each other, then followed Emily out the backdoor.
Finally! thought Emily, kids my own age to play with!
