Thank you to all those who entered last month's story competiton.

Unfortunately some very good stories have more than 500 words so are disqualified. Stories already submitted may be resubmitted in future months with some editing to qualify them.

Keep writing your stories about yourself and Emily, Amy, Jasmine and Belle. Remember to keep them short and interesting. Funny is always good too.

Congratulations to Caitlin, 9 from Grafton NSW,

from the Australian Girl Team!

This is her story...

PINK GALAHS VS DIAMOND PYTHONS

Amy and the Pink Galahs were practicing hard at the school netball courts for the big tournament against the Diamond Pythons.

Amy was playing Goal Shooter. Next to her was the Goal Keeper. Amy was skidding around while the other players were passing the ball up to her. The Goal Keeper tried to get in front of her to get the ball from the Non Bib Team but Amy thought fast. She skidded in front of the Goal Keeper, received the ball and shot the goal.

Their coach blew the whistle to gather the girls over to talk. "Listen girls. The Diamond Pythons are very good. I am counting on you to try your hardest to win the big trophy,"

That night, Amy dialed Belle on the telephone." Belle, can you ask the girls to come see me play at the tournament?"

"Sure!" said Belle.

Not before not too long it was the big tournament. Amy could see Belle, Emily, Matilda and Jasmine in the stands from the glass pane under the seats. The Pink Galahs were ready to play against those Diamond Pythons!

Over the loudspeakers Amy heard the announcer saying "Let’s give it up for the Diamond Pythons!"

Through the glass panes Amy could see the Diamond Pythons.

They wore snazzy black and gold tops and stretchy netball skirts.

Amy could see the Goal Keeper. She looked very good!

"Here come the Pink Galahs!" said the loudspeakers. Amy paraded out of the glass door and onto the wooden court. She rushed over to the snazzy Goal Keeper. Amy felt like a weakling.

She saw the referee on the side of the court. "PHWEET!" went the whistle. Instantly the Diamond Pythons whizzed the ball up the court. The poor Pink Galahs were helpless against those Pythons! The Wing Defence threw the ball to the Goal Keeper. Amy tried to block the Goal Keeper but the Goal Keeper was very strong!

The game was all tied up in the last quarter with only moments left on the clock, every pass and every goal counted!

As the ball headed down Amy’s end of the court in the last few seconds of the game her opponent the Goal Keeper pushed Amy out of the way to intercept a pass from the Galahs Goal Attack. Amy fell against the hard court, her lungs burning but she couldn't let her team down. She got up, dived in front of the pass from the Pythons Goal Keeper, which was headed across the goal circle straight to the Goal Defence. Amy snatched the ball as it left the hands of the Goal Keeper and shot a goal.

The grandstands roared to life. The final whistle blew. The Pink Galahs had won! The trophy was presented.

Amy blushed while the team gathered round for a photo.

Amy was so happy and so tired that she fell asleep in the car and dreamed of herself as a pro netball player.
