Thank you to all those who entered last month's story competition.

Unfortunately some very good stories have more than 500 words so are disqualified. Stories already submitted may be resubmitted in future months with some editing to qualify them.

K
eep writing your stories about yourself and Emily, Amy, Jasmine, Belle and Matilda. Remember to keep them short and interesting. Funny is always good too.

Congratulations to Jessica from Western Australia
from the Australian Girl Team!

This is her story...

No Cheating!

All five Aussie Girls were at a western horse show. Emily and her older brother were going to go show off their mustering skills in the next event. The event now was flatwork, meaning to show your horses skills. There was a girl in the main arena that was showing off her horses cantering. Belle found this impressive; when she was at the beach there were horses there swimming but never western. The horses canter was way different to the ones at the beach.

‘And a round of applause for Lucy, and her horse Comet,’ came a voice from the speaker in the stands.

‘The next event will be mustering, getting a herd of cattle from one end of the yard to the pen on the opposite side! The first competitors will be Emily, Jay and their horses Fly and Billy!’

Emily and Jay came into the yard and got to work. They started on the cattle, and they ran into the pen due to their skill. It was all over before Jasmine could say supercalafredjalisticexpialadocious.

‘Well done Emily and Jay!’ said the speaker. ‘Well done Emily!’ All the girls yelled. ‘Thanks,’ she said, embarrassed.

‘Johnny, I need you to go to those clocks before anyone sees you! Emily, Jasmine, Belle, Matilda and Amy were walking behind a tack shed when they overheard a young girl and a man.’ The girl continued.

‘What you need to do is, creep into the top booth and say my time is less than what it is. Make sure you do, or l’ll get VERY mad!’

‘But isn’t that cheating?’ said the man that the girls recognised as the commentator whose voice the speaker projected.

Without waiting for an answer, he walked off and the young girl crept off.

‘Hey! said Belle, that’s Lucy!’ The girls went back to sit in the booth.

‘The next competitor is Lucy, this time on Star! Can she beat Emily and Jay, who remain in the lead?’ said Johnny. Lucy sped through the arena door, along with a teenager the girls didn’t know.

‘Quick! We need to do something!’ pleaded Jasmine. Belle didn’t need to hear her.

‘I’m on to it.’ She crept along a path, the girls watching hopefully. The path led Belle to the Main Booth, where Johnny was. She went over to talk to Johnny.

‘You don’t have to do this, you know.’ She whispered in his ear. He jumped.

‘Do what? Oh, you overheard. Go away!’

Belle just got back in time to hear Johnny saying, .. ‘and the winner is, Emily and Jay,’ and seeing them go up to receive the trophy. The girls cheered loudly. They left before they found out about Lucy, but hoped it didn’t go too wrong. They were all very proud of Belle, though.
