Thank you to all those who entered last month's story competition.

Unfortunately some very good stories have more than 500 words so are disqualified. Stories already submitted may be resubmitted in future months with some editing to qualify them.

K
eep writing your stories about yourself and Emily, Amy, Jasmine, Belle and Matilda. Remember to keep them short and interesting. Funny is always good too.

Congratulations to Jemima from New South Wales from the Australian Girl Team!

This is her story...

"I'm glad the campfire is lit," said Emily.

Emily, Matilda, Belle and Jasmine were all camping together. It was a
cold Autumn night and it was getting dark, so the campfire was useful in
two ways. So you could see and so you could be warm. It was getting
late, so they had to go to bed. Belle, Emily, Matilda and Jasmine shared
their own tent. They went to bed and made up stories.

"Once there was a ..."

They all fell asleep.

In the morning, Emily got up first. She wanted to check on the campfire. It
was still blazing. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a path that the girls
had not noticed before. She ran into their tent. She told them about this
marvel. They all got dressed, except Jasmine got dressed in a dress. (This
was her first time camping). She got changed into something new. This
time it was a dress-like top and jeans.

They hurried off in the dim sunlight. They ran to the path. There they
spotted a little red kangaroo. They followed it. They just found a lovely
valley with all Australian animals. Just then a wombat waddled past them.

"Hey, look at that!" exclaimed Emily. "He looks so lovely! I just love

Australian animals."

It had ten gum trees around the valley. In the middle of the valley there
were six wattle trees, three on each side of a stream in the heart of the
valley. Emily, Jasmine, Matilda and Belle all voted on exploring around.
They found a lot of interesting things.

Bell gasped. "I think we are lost."

But Matilda smelt something in the distance.

"I know," she said. "I have been to so many different places in the world
that I could smell some food cooking."

"That's a great idea," said Belle.

"I think I heard Mum say she was going to make some pizza, so try and
smell pizza," said Emily.

"I think I smell something."

"Great," said Belle.

Matilda led them all back to the campsite and they had pizza for breakfast.

"I can't wait to show Amy the secret valley when she gets here tomorrow!"
said Belle.
