K
eep writing your stories about yourself and Emily, Amy, Jasmine, Belle and Matilda. Remember to keep them short and interesting. Funny is always good too.

Congratulations to Charlotte from New South Wales
from the Australian Girl Team!

This is her story...

Matilda, Scruffy, Prince and the Loneliest Birthday

Matilda got up and put on her tracksuit, she was going to have a walk with her dog Scruffy.

Scruffy was a one-year-old dog, woolly like a sheep and just plain goofy!
She found Scruffy's leash, put it on, got her iPod and started her jog.
She started off slowly, getting into a nice pace and Scruffy looking up at her with his big goofy grin.

Scruffy started to run.

Oh, you goofball Scruffy now, you're taking me for a walk. Matilda's brand new blue tracksuit that came all the way from America was getting ruined.

When finally she stood up and gained control, there were grass stains, and mud and worst of all, there was chewing gum in her hair.
Talk about Marley & Me, hey Scruffy!” Matilda sighed and walked slowly back home.

She was so anxious to get home for her birthday treat but sadly; when she arrived home there was no one there.

On the fridge there was a note from her mum reading:

Sorry Tillie but I had a last minute call from work, it was urgent I had to go and Dad um, forgot. If you call him he will come home but I promise we'll have fun when I get back. Belle is at Jasmine's house and she says Happy Birthday.
Sorry sweetie,
Love Mum

"I'm home alone with my dog on my birthday. Fun right? OK let's put this tracksuit in the wash and get this chewing gum out of my hair."

Matilda was back to business she didn't mind that Dad forgot or that Mum was at work, she liked to be by herself sometimes.
So she got changed and pulled her book out from under her bed.
She read peacefully for a half hour and then went to the pool and swum some laps. She was cold and as wet as a waterfall when she got out.

Matilda put her clothes back on, turned on the TV, got some treats from the cupboard and watched her favourite movie.
Scruffy lay loyally beside her, exhausted from walking a human.
When the doorbell rang, it was her cousin Emily.

"Hi Emily come in. Why are you carrying that big smelly box with holes and a jar of flies?"
"That's your birthday present 'Tillie, silly!" "Well thanks for the big smelly box with holes and a jar of flies," replied Tillie
"Are they dead?" asked Matilda
"Dead as a doorknob!"
"Okay Tillie, take a fly from the jar and poke it through one of the holes tell me if you feel a tickle on your fingers."
"Yes I feel it Em, can I open it and see what it is?"
"Be my guest Tills."
"It's a frog! I've always wanted one. Is it a boy or a girl?"
"It's a boy. Say hello to Prince!"
"Hi Prince. Wow thanks Emily, do you want to get his home ready and feed him?"
"Sure, anything for you," said Emily.
